Tomorrow Makers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation assisting groups with processes and tools for thinking, working, and bringing common goals to life in ways that elicit and enact the imagination and creative abilities of the community and its members.
We see humanity at a moment of commencement, ending one paradigm and beginning a new one. It is a fragile moment. Standing in the old, hierarchical paradigm is scary. It is looking straight into the abyss. None of the alternatives look good. Leaping this abyss to a new paradigm requires an optimism grounded in a trust that as new tools and processes become available to more and more, together we can create a more equitable, sustainable world.
We engage people in helping to make tomorrow by design, not default. As wayfinders, we help organizations and communities to imagine the power and promise of this new paradigm, and to design processes and tools that enable them to shape and live it into being. We do this by bringing people together through a collaborative design process that reveals, draws forth, and connect resources, talents, and skills helping communities develop their unique creative capacities, resilience and evolvability.
Tomorrow Makers is Gail Taylor and Todd Johnston. Small by design, much of our work is done in partnership with other network-based organizations.
What We Offer
- DESIGN GUIDES
Coaching and advisory services in process facilitation, collaborative design and organizational learning.
Tomorrow Makers brings over forty years experience in applying process design and systems thinking to facilitated group interaction. Through our work with executives and leadership teams in dozens of organizations, we have learned, developed and mastered a robust collection of models and tools that, used as a system, enable individuals and organizations to creatively and effectively solve problems, take advantage of emergent opportunities, and expand the realm of possibility.
As Design Guides, we offer our body of knowledge and expertise to individual designers, teachers, facilitators and artists whose work is to release the Group Genius within their community or organization.
Using dialogue, correspondence, and web-based collaboration tools, Design Guides work with Learners one-on-one to create a context in which Tomorrow Makers’ processes and tools come alive for the Learner and can be immediately applied to the Learner’s current projects and responsibilities.
- EVENT DESIGN & FACILITATION
Creating collaborative, experiential workshops, design labs and mass convenings.
What makes a community gathering more than the sum of its parts? How can themes, sessions, content, the physical environment and the expertise of participants be interwoven and meaningfully connected?
Given the abundance of choices of process tools, techniques, location and subject matter expertise, what are the meta-structures and -processes that release Group Genius? How can we realize a rich, meaningful experience, powerful relationships and stronger capacities for action?
With a good design process it is relatively easy to take a standard workshop and turn it into something transformational. Our processes are designed to enrich each person's imagination and ability to bring into coherence their own individual, community, and planatary actions.
Tomorrow Makers is thinking long term, knowing that the future is "lived into being." Healthy, long-lasting change is rooted in place and community, and the imperative has never been stronger than now to draw upon the knowledge, creativity and collaboration of every member.
